In the Beginning… STPB began funding for Hospital & Tourism Training in 2008 Five goals Create an awareness and interest in career pathways in hospitality and tourism (entry level and advancement) Develop employee skills, knowledge and competencies Increase number of employee industry recognized certifications Help create local ambassadors for Tompkins County by providing greater exposure to tourism assets and resources Further develop training resources and opportunities Approximately 1.5% of room tax dollars re-invested into workforce development and training options for employees
