Marketing 4-H Resources For Every Garrison Germaine Pointer 4-H/Army Youth Development Specialist

The process involved in promoting, selling and distributing a product or service. Good marketing is all about seeing individuals’ needs and meeting them. What is Marketing? YouTube - 4-H Commercial #5

Who is your target audience? –Adults, children or youth, use age appropriate language and photos –Use as many real photos as possible Who is your target audience? –Adults, children or youth, get feedback from that specific target group What is the language of the day Style Realistic Audiences, Who, What, Why

Symbols are one way companies get us to recognize their products without words. We should correctly use the 4-H emblem in all of our marketing efforts. It helps people know who we are. Do you recognize these symbols ? Activity Next

Entrances to Centers –With permission of Coordinators –Target all centers MWR Facilities –Wherever marketing materials are allowed –Examples – Exchange, Lodging, Central Registration, ID cards, welcome packets, MWR ITT locations etc. School sites –Some schools may allow brochures –PTA and other parent groups may help with promotions Different places to market 4-H

Have special events that are high profile and lots of fun. Open them up to all kids, whether they are in 4-H or not. Use technology to help promote the 4-H program. Encourage 4-H’ers to create a web site that highlights your 4-H club activities. Ideas For Marketing Your 4-H Club

Put up bulletin boards about 4-H in places where young people gather in the community such as fast food shops, shopping areas, libraries, community centers, parks, video stores, theaters etc. Have a 4-H club enrollment drive. Set up a booth with information about 4-H at schools in your community. Ideas For Marketing Your 4-H Club

Carry out a community project, such as reading to youngsters during story time at the library or a school, cleaning up a street or highway, recycling cans or newspapers. Make sure that good photos are taken, and work with local media to “toot your horn.” Ideas For Marketing Your 4-H Club
