University of Belgrade is the oldest State university of the Republic of Serbia The origin of the University of Belgrade can be tracked down to the year 1808, when the College (Velika škola) was founded by Dositej Obradovic

The Center for Career Development and Student Counselling The Foundation of Crown Prince Alexander for Culture and Education in cooperation with the University of Belgrade and the University of Nottingham has initiated the establishment of the Centre for Career Development and Counseling Services of the University of Belgrade The Center was officially founded by the University of Belgrade on December 5, It is an organizational unit of the University of Belgrade. The work of the Center is monitored by the University Council and the Student Parliament.

The initial team of the Belgrade University Centre for Career Development attended a special know-how training at the Centre for Career Development of the University of Nottingham after which, adopting the positive practices of this service, it has been intensively preparing the opening of the first University Centre for Career Development in Serbia. Centre for Career Development of the University of Nottingham By organizing trainings at the University of Belgrade during the following year 2007 our centre supported the initial teams of the new university career centers founded at other state universities: CCD at the University of Kragujevac, Novi Sad and Nis. The centers cooperate and are mutually interconnected.CCD at the University of KragujevacNovi Sad Nis.

Our Mission To be available to students and offer high quality services of career information, counselling and education and enable students and graduates of University of Belgrade to realise their potentials and become aware of their options, i.e. to understand and recognise opportunities that are available to them during the proces of making career decisions.

Our Goals Providing the effective system of support for students and graduates to help them develop knowledge and skills important for their job finding and continuing education. Increasing the number of students and graduates who have gained relevant work experience during their studies or recently after graduation. Developing cooperation among all the faculties at the University of Belgrade and strengthening the integrative role of University. Promotion of students and graduates of the University of Belgrade as future experts in different business areas and promotion of the University of Belgrade as the leading institution of higher education in this region.

Key role of the Centre to assist students of the University of Belgrade in developing the knowledge and skills relevant for employment, help them gain work experience during the studies and useful insights about the world of work, and prepare students and graduates for the next step in their career development after graduation.

Activities of the Centre Working on development of student’s capabilities, knowledge and practical skills relevant for employment; Providing information for students on various opportunities: additional education, scholarships in the country and abroad, vacancies Connecting students and employers through internship programmes and trainings in the leading companies and organizations in the country; Organizing presentations of the companies, and of their business ethics and policy Providing counseling services for students with dilemmas about their career choice or positioning on the labour market upon graduation; Other activities of student counseling regarding career development such as organizing seminars and workshops on job search techniques, writing good CVs and cover letters, preparation for job interview, etc ; Coordinating work of the existing Career Centres at faculty level; Following-up strategic goals in the area of employment in cooperation with the Centre for Strategic Management and Planning Cooperating with other University Centres.

Our Programs Career 3 in 1 - career information, counseling and education  Aim: to support students and graduates in developing knowledge and skills that will be of importance in employment and further education. The program includes visiting faculties of the University of Belgrade and organising info, counseling and edu sessions. It began in  We organised this program so far at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Political Sciences, Technical Faculty in Bor, Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, Electrical Engineering Faculty, and Faculty of Philology, next visit is to Faculty of Pharmacy.

Meet the Business First Hand  Aim: to provide support for students and recent graduates in developing the relevant knowledge and skills for future employment. The aim is achieved through half-day company visits to the renowned foreign investors and successful local companies whereby students can interact directly with top management. The program is implemented jointly with AmCham since  We have visited 15 different companies so far, and more than 100 CEOs, managers and employees hosted more than 650 students.

"Menjaža-menjam tremu za pripremu “ – career information and education for youth  Aim: to educate youth and familiarise them with career options, career information and labour market with attractive education material and trainings.  Realised in for a number of representatives of the Belgrade Youth offices (to expand the scope of their "services" and develop workshops to their peers), and for students of University of Belgrade in 2011.

“Kadar da budem kadar”  Aim: improving the employment skills of students and graduates and preparing them for the modern labor market.  launched in 2010, jointly with AmCham, held twice a year featuring a series of training courses on “soft” skills necessary for career development and professional success. The courses lead by AmCham HR managers and consultants.

Internships for students and graduates of the Belgrade University in public enterprise and city administration  In senior students and graduates had the opportunity to conduct a six-month internship in one of the 20 public enterprise, and in public enterprises and 12 organizational units of the City of Belgrade opened their doors for 197 final year students and graduates for conducting four-month internship starting in June)

A Campaign The campaign "Karijerisanje-izgradi karijeru u pravom smeru" was created in order to better present the Center's services and to achieve equitable information about student services and activities of the Centre. The campaign "Karijerisanje" had three events: –"Karijerobus" (central activity of the event was discussion on career development – with professionals form different areas), –Centrovske kutije" (installation of special ballot boxes for collecting the applications of students mail lists CCD at the counters of all faculties) and –"Ćaskanje" - cafe "Karijerisanje"- Career chat (17 business representatives spend pleasant afternoon talking to students about career possibilities in a friendly, informal atmosphere)

A Fair Univerzitetski sajam stipendija – STIPENDIJA I JA (University Mobility Fair – Sholarship and I) Objectives: –raising the level of available information about scholarship programs at the local and foreign universities, –promotion of scholarship funding –motivating students to achieve better academic results. organised in November 2011 at the Rectorate Building. It included thematic panel discussion, parallel presentations and consultation sessions, workshops, free printed material and booklet about scholarships. More than 30 participants and around 3000 visitors during one day.
