Presentation transcript:

Renewable energy Renewable energy is energy which is naturally made, for example wind turbines need wind to spin the propellers around and solar panels need the sun. Bio is means coming from life or living organism.

TYPES OF RENEWABLE ENERGY Solar energy The sun has produced energy for billions of years. Solar energy is the solar radiation that reaches the earth. Hydro energy Of the renewable energy sources that electricity hydropower is the most often used. It uses moving water to create electricity. Wind energy Wind is air in motion. It is produced by the uneven heating of the earth’s surface by the sun.

TYPES OF RENEWABLE ENERGY Geothermal energy Geothermal energy can be used as an efficient heat source in small applications. It is heat from the earth. Biomass energy Biomass is organic material which has stored sunlight in the form of chemical energy. Biomass fuels include wood and many other martials Ocean energy Tides are caused by the pull of the moon and sun, and also the rotation of the earth. Near the shore, water levels can vary.It is the motion of the waves which turns the turbine.

BIOMASS Biomass is a source of energy created by the residues of left over plants and vegetables this is one way of how biomass energy is created; there is another way to do this this happens when plants and crops are especially grown to make the energy. Now however I am going to look at another type of biomass, one that produces heat and hot water.

BIOMASS BOILER Biomass boilers are used for heat and hot water, here are some photos

The Boiler A biomass boiler is a boiler which heats a place : homes, schools, factories etc. This way heating does not need fossil fuels; it is powered in a slightly different way. It uses wood chip as its fuel to create heat ; First the wood is cut down. Then chipped into woodchip. Then it is sent to a biomass boiler where it is burnt down to form heat. Finally the heat is transferred into the building and is used to warm humans up. This process happens in a biomass boiler and then the heat travels in big pipes to the building.

Energy in the future There are many types of ways to do this (I think ) including : wee powered batteries, solar panels on cars also you could have them on traffic lights. However many people are finding out different ways to produce electricity for example there is now a poo powered bus, solar farms and also wee powered batteries. Or linking back to the traffic light s you could turn them off in the early hours of the morning. To conclude there are many ways to save energy and maybe we can find some more ways to do this in the future.
