Follow-up with volunteers to make sure team jobs are completed accurately and on time. Inform the parents to go online for the team roster and game schedule Assist the Coach in communicating with the parents important topics such as: –Practice reminders –Snack reminders –Game schedule and reminders –Goal duty reminder for Goal Parents if game is 1st or last game of the day –Practice or Game cancellations/changes Not all parents have easy access to and so texts/phone calls are especially helpful for last minute notifications.

Team Referee Each U8 and U10 team shall have one team referee. This accounts for region level and team level volunteer roles due to critical need of this role for our children to play soccer. Free referee training will be provided. Contact Referee coordinator for details at

Snack Scheduler Key Responsibilities Create a snack schedule, assigning one family for after-the-game snacks Other Information Some family may need to do it twice. Tell kids to bring their own water bottle to drink during breaks and half time. Do not assign snack duty to Coach or Assistant Coach(es) on your team After-the-game snack: Includes food and a drink Suggestions; Oranges, bananas, granola bars, crackers, Gogurt, granola bars, etc… Bring extra water for referees Bring napkins or wipes and a trash bag for clean up

Goal Duty Key Responsibilities Coordinate parents to help Setup or Take Down goals when assigned to team Other Information U5 and U6 divisions No teams, so goal parents coordinate the goal setup and take down every week. U5 & U6 Girls Setup & U6 Boys Take Down. Goals are stored in our storage locker and Game Day Equipment parent will bring to the field. Watch Bownet goal setup on our website under Volunteers / Volunteer Toolbox

Goal Duty Other Information U8 and U10 teams will be notified via our Team Site Discussion Board if they are scheduled for a particular week. U8 Parents – Goals are locked up at Backesto Park. Coach will provide combo for goal lock. Remember to lock and spin combination during games, so no one steals lock or combo and to lock securely at the end of the games. U10 Parents – Please watch videos for Bownet setup on our website at Volunteers / Volunteer Toolbox. Goals are stored in our storage locker and Game Day Equipment parent will bring these to the field.

Practice Parent Key Responsibilities Attend practice as needed Other Information 2 adults need to be at every practice. Normally this is the coach and assistant coach, but on occasion one may be absent and then the practice parent needs to stay at the practice. Practice Parent should be the same sex as the players if the coaches are the opposite sex of the coaches. If this is the case, the Practice Parent MUST attend every practice due to our Safe Haven rules. If no one volunteers, create a rotating schedule where each family participates once.

Picture Day Parent Key Responsibilities Assist on Picture Day to coordinate the players Provide pictures to players at the end of the season Other Information Pass out picture day envelopes to parent (these will be provided during the season) On picture day, make sure each player has an order envelope filled out Pictures will be provided to you for the team from the Region Picture Day Coordinator If the season has ended and someone hasn’t picked up their pictures, contact them and drop off pictures at their home.

Coach Gifts Key Responsibilities Collect money from parents for gift Purchase and wrap gift for kids to give the coach and assistant coach Purchase and get player signature on a card for coach and another for assistant coach Other Information Ask Parents & Players for gift ideas Collect money from each family. The usual amount is $10 per player. Gift amounts should be split 70% Coach and 30% Assistant Coach, unless you have an overly engaged Assistant Coach then adjust accordingly. Make sure the gift is ready to be presented at the End of the Season Party. Gift suggestions: gift cards, soccer equipment, scrapbooks, team photo, T-shirt or Soccer Ball signed by players.

Referee Appreciation Day U8 and U10 Only Referees sometimes work 2 or 3 games a weekend so Parents like us can enjoy watching our children play. Let’s show our appreciation for this important volunteer role. Key Responsibilities Collect money, purchase gift & card, and provide to kids to present to Referees on Referee Appreciation Day (TBD) at the end of the game. Other Information Gather consensus from parents about how to show appreciation for Referees. Collect money from parents for gifts (U10 about $5/player an U8 about $2/player) U10 Center Ref should get 50% and each AR gets 25% Suggestions: Gift Cards for Jamba Juice, Peet’s Coffee, Sports Store, Home Baked Treats, Gift certificates to a Movie Theatre, Restaurants, Bookstore, etc. Players present gift to Referees on Ref Appreciation Day (TBD)

End of Season Party Planner Key Responsibilities Plan party date, time, location, food and drinks Communicate information to parents early in the season, so everyone can plan accordingly (week 6 or 7). Other Information Poll the Coaches/Players what they’d like to do for the End of Season Party, including date & time and type of party (last games are Sat May 21 st / Sun May 22 nd ) Party suggestions: potluck, picnic at the park, pizza place, soccer game: parents vs. kids, etc. Recommend restaurant parties to have parents order individually by calling ahead Be sure to make reservations 3-4 weeks in advance if you plan to have the party at a restaurant.

Allow time for coach to hold a brief after game talk with players and parents Clean up the field. Leave NO garbage behind. If last game of the day, put away the goals.
