WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE STRATFORD-UPON-AVON, 23 APRIL 1564 STRATFORD-UPON-AVON, 23 APRIL 1616

THE LIFE He lived during the renaissance period, he was born in April 1564, in Stratford, near London. His parents were John and Mary. The father, a dealer in wool, was a solid middle-class citizen. Young William attended the local Grammar school, where he learn Latin and the classical writers. When he was only eighteen he married Annie Hathaway. Anne bore him three children. During the period of bubonic plague he wrote sonnets, lyric poetry and private plays for his aristocratic friends, and got support from a young nobleman, the Earl of Southampton. Shakespeare became a the main playwright of the most popular acting company in London: “The Lord Chamberlain’s Men”.

THE GLOBE THEATRE The Globe Theatre was a theater in London where recited by William Shakespeare's company. Its reconstruction it can still see the original location, near Blackfriars Bridge on the banks of the Thames. The original Globe Theatre was built in 1599 by the theater company to which Shakespeare belonged, the Lord Chamberlain's Men, and destroyed by fire in 1613.The Globe Theatre that was rebuilt in 1614, closed in 1642 and demolished in 1644The modern reconstruction of the Globe, named 'Shakespeare's Globe Theatre', opened in 1999…

… The wooden structure, also called "the wooden O", was octagonal and had an open space at the center, to let in the natural light. The theater could hold up to 3200 people. The admission price was, Elizabethan age, of 1 penny for standing room and 2 penny for seats in the three circular galleries. A shelter in case of rain repaired the expensive costumes the actors. The scene consisted of a stage that jutted out into the audience and literally from a second floor, often used for the reproduction of entire rooms or balconies (Romeo and Juliet). The shows were starting day and lasted into the evening, and sometimes made use of dangerous torches. Due to a fire, the Globe was demolished. On the flag hung over the structure was bearing the motto "Totus mundus agit histrionem"

HAMLET Hamlet is one of the most well-known Shakespearean tragedy and cited. It was probably written between 1600 and the summer of We are in Elsinore, Denmark. The ghost of the dead king, killed by his brother Claudius who then usurped the throne and married his wife, his son Hamlet appears and asks to be avenged. Hamlet is caught by a thousand doubts and thinks it is easier to find out the truth by being crazy to believe

ROMEO AND JULIET It 'a tragedy by William Shakespeare composed between 1594 and 1596, among the most famous and represented, as well as one of the most popular love stories. The story of the two protagonists have changed over time as a symbolic value, becoming the archetype of perfect love, but opposed by the company. The sixteen year old scion of the Montagues, Romeo, is in love with Rosaline, a Capulet (character who never appears) which, for a purity and chastity, do not want to pay attention to Romeo. Mercutio (Romeo's friend and relative of the Prince) and Benvolio (cousin of Romeo) Romeo from trying in vain to divert his melancholy, then decide to go masked to the house of the Capulets, have fun and try to forget. Romeo, who is hoping to see Rosalina to the ball, meets Juliet instead. Thus began the story of impossible love between the two, culminating in the death of both.

KING LEAR It’s a tragedy in five acts, in verse and prose, written in by William Shakespeare. Lear, King of Britain has three daughters of which would divide the kingdom, but Cordelia, the youngest, is disinherited and is married to the King of France. The kingdom is divided between Goneril, wife of the Duke of Albany, andRegan, wife of the Duke of Cornwall. The two chase away the father from the kingdomand in his defense comes with the French army but Cordelia is captured and killed on the orders of Edmund, usurper of Gloucester County. Lear dies of grief, Goneril, in love with Edmund, kills his sister and plot the murder of her husband. Discovery, kills himself and the kingdom of Britain will be the Duke of Albany.
