Product description Strength, durability and cost efficiency in roof constructions Load-bearing profile sheets are the optimal choice in different roof constructions due to their weight and load-bearing capacity The most economical solutions can be obtained by using Ruukki’s Poimu- dimensioning software for roof optimization Load-bearing profiles are suitable for roof decking, external roof sheeting and intermediate flooring They can also be used as formwork for concrete slabs 4

Product description – benefits for customer High quality raw material High load bearing capability Wide selection of load-bearing sheets to match the requirements Cost optimisation guaranteed Competence and expertise in load-bearing sheets Possibility for a sound absorption improvement 9

Application in buildings Subtitle slide with green background Application in buildings Back to contents page 10

Application in buildings Ruukki load-bearing profiles can be used for insulated and uninsulated roofs for example in the following buildings: production halls warehouses shopping centers office buildings sports buildings renovation projects 11

Application in buildings An example of a project where insulation comes over the load bearing profiles

Technical information Subtitle slide with green background Technical information Back to contents page 13

Technical information Web-perforated profiles Perforation grade: 15% (3mm, c/c 7.4 mm) Improvement in sound absorption Improvement in reverberation time 14

Technical information – anti condensation Anti-condensation is used to remove the possibility for water to condensate into the lower surface of the profile Anti-condensation absorbs and prevents water drops to emerge Usually used in cold storages and halls Factory installed

Technical information – supporting beam structures HEA -Beam IPE-beam Welded I-Beam Truss Concrete Reinforced concrete Laminated timber In addition to above structures, it is also possible to use different types of purlins as a supporting structure, for example Z-purlins and sigma-purlins

Technical information – fasteners Fasteners for supporting beams Fasteners for the edge beam, and for the overlapping

Technical information – fastening the profiles to the supporters Profiles are fastened from the middle of the smooth part of the flange The sizes, types and quantities of the fasteners are defined by designer The minimum distances between the edge of the profile and the fastener are marked on the enclosed picture b = the width of the ”flat flange” The absolute minimum edge distance for the fastener is 25 mm

Technical information – extensions and joints         The edge support  Continuous support  Non-continuous structure 150

Technical information – extensions and joints         Continuous structure I  Continuous structure II  Gerber joint 200 e 10 % of Lright 10 % of Lleft 10 – 12 % L e = half of the normal overlapping  An extension

Technical information – Fastening of the supporting sheet Sometimes, if the supporting structure is too narrow, it is possible to use a supporting sheet to “widen” the supporter The principle is demonstrated in the enclosed pictures

Technical information – sideways overlapping Normal One wave overlapping Double sheet It is possible to increase the load bearing capacity by adding extra overlappings Must be calculated by Poimu – software

Technical information – sideways overlapping, uninsulated water roof If there was an insulation to come, it would be impossible to put the fasteners on top of the profile (It would break the vapour barrier) This kind of fastening is used when the profile acts as a water roof

Calculation – Poimu software With Ruukki’s Poimu software you can calculate and optimise load-bearing sheets needed for the project. With the software you can choose the best load-bearing sheet type, thickness and static scheme quickly and efficiently. Poimu optimisation tool covers one, double-span and continuous structures Apart from internal use, the software is made available for external use. Customers can download it from a Ruukki’s software platform Please visit www.ruukki.com for further information 24

Certification Back to contents page Subtitle slide with green background Certification Back to contents page 25

Certification – water roofing application T55, T85, T130, T153 CEE T45, T70, T113, T118, T120, (T130) T153 NE CE Marking CE Marking = = = = CE Marking in accordance with EN 14782:2006 EC Declaration of Conformity CE Marking in accordance with EN 14782:2006 EC Declaration of Conformity 26

Safety at work Back to contents page Subtitle slide with green background Safety at work Back to contents page 27

Safety at work Always wear protective clothing – especially safety gloves while working with profiles Be aware of the sharp edges of the profiles Don’t go under the load while profiles are being moved Ensure that the lifting belts are suitable for lifting (inspected in time) or use the lifting tool provided by Ruukki Try to avoid handling the profiles during heavy winds While moving on the roof, follow great caution and use certified safety rope (lifeline), safety anchor and safety boots with soft sole Always pay attention to the local safety regulations

Safety at work – safety anchor The safety anchor device SA113-153, attached to the load-bearing profiled sheet, is according to directive 89/689/EEC (CE-marked) Safety anchor SA113-153 is a safety device for working on roofs, which was designed and tested by Ruukki The device is only compatible with load-bearing profiled sheets manufactured by Ruukki, within the limits specified in the safety anchor’s usage instructions

Safety at work – lifting tool The lifting tool is according to directive 2006/42/EY (CE-marked) It is meant to used in lifting Ruukki’s load bearing profiles It is possible to lift the profiles one at a time, or several together The bundles must be separated from each other by bedding timbers, height of minimum 70 mm, to be able to use the lifting tool The lifting tool is composed of two different main parts and of the lifting belt that combines them

Installation Back to contents page Subtitle slide with green background Installation Back to contents page 31

Installation The installation instructions presented in the enclosed manual are examples only and they are not directly applicable in all cases In conflicting situations, follow the structural designer’s instructions or contact our technical service See contact information on the last page You can open the installation instructions by clicking the picture above
