What are the 3 parts of the cell theory? Bellringer

The cell theory revisited 1. All living things are composed of cells 2. Cells are the smallest (basic) unit of living things. 3. All cells are produced from existing cells.

That third part (‘new cells are produced from existing cells!’), how does that happen? New cells are created through Mitosis. (write this on page 65) Write these questions (7 questions total), then answer them as we watch the video. 1. Why does Mitosis happen (at least 2 reasons)? 2. What does Mitosis create? 3. What is the acronym for the phases of Mitosis?

Take 2 minutes and come up with a way to remember PMAT.

Take 2 minutes and come up with a way to remember PMAT. The way I remember it is to think of your little Chihuahua named “Mitosis”. That little thing has bladder issues, so what do you need to make sure you have for Mitosis? Pee-Mat

Phases of Mitosis - PMAT 4. What’s the ‘P’ stand for? What happens during this phase? 5. What’s the ‘M’, and what happens? 6. What’s the ‘A’, and what happens? 7. What’s the ‘T’, and what happens?
