New Hire Orientation10 Staff Leaves & Absences Employees earn 1.25 sick days per month worked –190 day employees earn 12 sick days per year –200 day employees earn 12.5 sick days per year –210 day employees earn 13 sick days per year –260 day employees earn 15 sick days per year Sick leave days may be used for special circumstances (3 days of total sick days earned) Employees transferring from other South Carolina state agencies can have their sick leave transferred to RHS –Please contact previous HR / Personnel department on how to have those days sent to RHS Sick Leave Policy

New Hire Orientation11 Staff Leaves & Absences Provides employee with 60 days of JOB PROTECTED leave for a serious medical health condition Must have been with RHSD for 1 year and have worked 1250 hours for RHSD within that year Can be used for a sick spouse, dependent, parent, or if you have legal guardianship duties Sick leave / vacation will be used concurrently with leave Not limited to pregnancies Provides leave for adoptions Employees may also take leave intermittently Physician’s certification must accompany application Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

New Hire Orientation12 Vacation Leave Only 260 day employees are eligible to earn vacation.83 days are earned at the end of each month – 10 days per year At retirement or resignation, an employee will be paid up to 10 days of accrued vacation There is no maximum accumulation of vacation Vacation days are not transferable from state agency to state agency

New Hire Orientation39 Retirement SCRS Defined Benefit Plan –Guaranteed pension when retire –Employee contributes 8.16% –Employer contributes 16.39% –Retirement not based on amount in account Class 2 - Based on years of service, average final compensation 12 highest quarters Class 3 - Based on years of service, Rule of 90 applies (20) highest consecutive quarters –Geared toward employee who will retire from South Carolina, not necessarily from Rock Hill Schools –Cannot receive rollover money from another retirement plan

New Hire Orientation40 Retirement SCRS Full Retirement –Class 2 65 years of age with at least 5 years of earned service; or 28 years or more of service credit, at least 5 years of which must be earned service credit –Class 3 65 years of age with at least 8 years of earned service credit; or Meets Rule of 90 requirement with at least 8 years of earned service credit (age and service credit must add up to at least 90)
