TEST REVIEW: THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK The test is on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.

The following topics will be in the true or false section of your test (1 point each):  To what does Anne compare their stay in the Annex?  Of which is Anne afraid: noise or silence?  Does Anne enjoy Mrs. Van Daan’s company? Have they become friends?  What is Anne’s nickname from school?  How does Anne feel about the relationships between grown-ups and youth?  Is Anne popular or a loner at school?  Does Mr. Frank flirt with Mrs. Van Daan or is it the other way around?  How does Anne annoy the others in the attic?  How does Anne feel about her place in her family?  What does Anne think about Peter’s relationship to his parents?

The following character descriptions will need to be matched to the correct character names (2 points each):  This character smokes cigarettes.  The character resented having to wear the Star of David.  This character is being treated for ulcers.  This character is concerned with sickness.  This character is responsible for the Franks going into hiding.  This character has a lot of friends at school.  This character is used to having a lot of money.  This character is allergic to Peter’s cat, Mouschi.  This character is the oldest of the children in the Annex.  This character provides food and supplies to the Franks.

 Why does the Frank family go into hiding?  What is the Secret Annex? What type of building?  Why does Mrs. Frank want the Van Daans to leave?  What type of person is Mrs. Van Daan?  Who does Anne identify as a fatalist?  What holiday do the inhabitants of the Secret Annex celebrate for the first time in their lives?  Of what do the Franks, Van Daans, and Dussel live in constant fear? The following questions will be in a multiple choice format (2 points each):

The final question is short answer (5 points):  Explain the rules that the Franks, Van Daans, and Dussels had to obey while hiding in the Secret Annex. Be specific/detailed!  There will also be a 15 point open ended response based on the Miep Gies piece in the textbook. You will get a copy of it to use during the test. Review the structure/rules of an open ended response!
