Dayton Early College Academy (DECA), Dayton Ohio Transforming the lives of students with a rigorous approach to college preparation. Visit: DECAprep.org  Gateway Manual is a process that builds students’ communications, critical thinking and collaboration skills.  DECA educators helps the students to become college ready through instructional and support services that support the development of critical thinking, communication and problem solving.  Peer coaching system is the professional learning opportunities it provides for participating educators and the ways in which it reinforces 21 st century learning practices including collaboration and communication. DECA turns urban learners into college graduates. Students must be able to analyze complex ideas, write and speak coherently and master new information. Social skills and character attributes are equally essential. Job shadows, internships, oral presentations, and community services are the tributes that strengthen the DECA students. With the assistance of outstanding teachers advising up to 16 students in each group they become family during their time in DECA. The teachers are constantly motivating, advocating, and mentoring while making curriculum decisions. Volunteers donate time, materials and services to give DECA students a totally unique educational experience.
