Schedule initial pre-retirement counseling Review online retirement seminar Review retirement checklist Consider retirement Home of Selection Two Years Prior to Retirement
Attend Transitional Assistance Program (TAP) Evaluate family post-retirement financial and income requirements Consider military retirement savvy financial counseling 18 Months Prior to Retirement
Review retirement checklist Receive post-retirement employment restrictions counseling Establish financial plan for retirement transition Initial retirement plans discussion with supervisor Contact local Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) representative and learn more about the education benefits you and your family qualify for Consider choices for residual annual leave –Terminal Leave or Lump-Sum Leave Payment Months Prior to Retirement
Review and request copies of Personnel/Medical/Dental records Schedule final physical Discuss final retirement plans with supervisor Discuss timeline with Agency Liaison 180 Days Prior to Retirement
Complete PHS-1373 and Retirement Request Memorandums and forward to supervisor (can be submitted earlier) Review the Veteran’s Affairs Disability Application (VA Form ) Contact local VA Disability Counselor to discuss application for Service Connected Conditions 120 Days Prior to Retirement
Schedule final dental exam Review TRICARE program options and select program best suited to your and your family’s health needs Contact Separations Counselor to ensure receipt of Retirement Request 90 Days Prior to Retirement
Discuss relocation and household goods move with appropriate agency’s travel office Review dependents’ information within DEERS System to ensure all information is correct and up-to-date. 60 Days Prior to Retirement
Re-enroll in TRICARE Prime prior to the 20 th of the month 30 Days Prior to Retirement
