Webquest Well who was first? (Frost verses Wright)

Introduction Introduction Process Task1 Task2 Task3 Resources Evaluation Conclusion The Wright Brothers have always been considered the first ones to undertake a powered flight. But was this really the case? Some say the first flight was made by a welsh man Bill Frost. You are going to investigate this claim and make up your own mind as to who you consider to be the first. Look at all the evidence and decide what is fact and what is fiction. Remember when you have made your decision you will have to back it up with facts. Good Luck!

Process Work with a partner to complete this Webquest. Share out the work so you can complete it in the time allocated. Come together at regular intervals to share your work and discuss progress. Remember you will be presenting your work to children keep it child friendly. Look at resources and the evaluation criteria before you start. Introduction Process Task1 Task2 Task3 Resources Evaluation Conclusion

Tasks One Introduction Process Task1 Task2 Task3 Resources Evaluation Conclusion Well before powered flight man had attempted to fly. Research the history of flight and from your notes produce a timeline to display your results. Decide which is the best way to display your time line so that others can understand it.

Task Two Introduction Process Task1 Task2 Task3 Resources Evaluation Conclusion Study the story of Bill Frost and make a list of the things that you consider to be evidence that the flight did take place. Now make another list of thinks that casts doubt on the flying attempt. Once the lists have been made decide as a group whether you think Bill Frost was the first to take a powered flight. You must back your argument up with facts.

Task Three Introduction Process Task1 Task2 Task3 Resources Evaluation Conclusion Pretend that you were one of the eye witnesses to Bill Frost’s flight. Write a group story about the day so that the children in year three can understand it. Produce the story in a form that allows all of year three to read the story. Remember illustrations will help them understand. Make a model of the aircraft from re-cycled material so that you can explain to Year Three how it was able to fly.

Scale model produced A well structured and entertaining account of the day produced in diary form. Model detailed and too scale

Conclusion Introduction Process Task1 Task2 Task3 Resources Evaluation Conclusion Congratulations you have a good understanding of early flight. You should now have your own opinions as to who was the first person to succeed in undertaking the first manned powered flight. Keep an open mind as new evidence is still being found and your opinion might change. Now have some fun making one of the paper planes in the I-touch app.
