Power consumption June-July-August
Summer peak power consumption vs. ambient temperature Hottest day of summer th of July Daily avg 28.7 ºC Peak h00 Colling & ventilation 12 MW
Summer peak power consumption vs. ambient temperature Hottest day of summer th of July Daily avg 28.7 ºC Peak h00 No beam during the day and magnets not powered P steady 450 GeV = 66 MW P peak = 68 MW P 16h00 = 68 MW P steady 450 GeV = 66 MW

LHC cooling and ventilation power (MW) All CV Equipment Equipment Considered by WEBENERGY under Cooling and Ventilation Equipment Considered by WEBENERGY under general services Installed power in LHC Sum of cooling and ventilation equipment rated power =34 Expected (by CV) peak in summer =12 Measured by EL Extrapolated: MW in total but, … how much is from CV? G. PeonFCC I&O meeting Peak consumption ~ 1.1 x Average consumption ~ 22 MW
FCC I&O meeting Possible reasons for discrepancy –7 of July was not the worst possible summer day? High temperature but not for very long time No beam for a long period of time Were all the systems that need cooling working at nominal conditions? –Overestimation in user requirements –Overestimation of consumed power by CV running equipment –Error in the measurements? It seems impossible as these measurements are the basis for electricity suppliers bill G. Peon
