Prepare: A computer room with internet access An available class- shared document space (you need all of your pupils’ s for this function. The Movie Maker software and knowledge of how to use it. You may choose to go for a class feedback on each group. In this case, open a Google form for each group and let the class vote on each video.
Open a PPT or a Digital Notebook The pupils should open either a ppt or a digital shared document and title it “We are the Champions”. You may want to use: Google Docs. The pupils should open a group shared document( this will be their digital notebook) as well as another document that you the teacher will open for the whole class. Be sure that your pupils are acquainted with the tool before you begin this unit: This will help keep everything organized and ready to be presented.
LYRICS 1. Ask pupils to enter the following site and have pupils paste the lyrics in their digital notebook ( n/wearethechampions. htmlhttp:// n/wearethechampions. html Tip: photocopy the lyrics in two columns on an A4 page and hand out lyrics to those pupils you feel need this scaffolding
SHOW A VIDEO 2. Discuss the title of the song and Show a clip of the song. Ask the pupils to add a hyperlink to the following clip in YouTube, next to the lyrics and Save your work! XqcfCY XqcfCY
SING ALONG 3. Show a clip of only the lyrics and have the pupils sing along v=O71fetlkCZo v=O71fetlkCZo
Divide the class into groups Form groups. You will need 4 groups per each verse. You may choose to give the same verse to more than 1 group for size of class reasoning. Opt for at least 4 pupils but no more than six per group. Ask the pupils to open another digital page and to title it “About the Song…” Explain that they will have a few stages to go through before they can deliver their presentation which is to create a rock band and to add a new verse to the song as well as a video clip!!

Continued… The pupils will need to understand the vocabulary and also gain an understanding of the message within the lines of their verse. They should write the meaning of the words they worked on and the overall message of the verse. You may want to walk around and note special literature/language points that are important for the group to learn. This page should be saved both in the pupils’ notebooks but also in a shared document that all the class can checkout.
