MRS. LISA MOLIS ROOM C4 Welcome to First Grade Kennedy Park School #24

HOW IS MY CHILD DOING? Every child is doing what I expect them to do. If there is a problem, I have already contacted you. I will be sharing your child’s progress at Conference time, NOT TONIGHT!!!!! All children in first grade come in at different levels.

FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS The most important thing they will learn is to listen and follow directions. Talk in English at home especially when giving directions. Start out with one step and move on to three step directions.

BEHAVIOR We respect all the people we go to school with. In our classroom we are friends with everyone and work with everyone in the room. Everyone at all times, must keep their hands to themselves.

First Grade Curriculum I model all assignments before I expect them to do it themselves. I say directions ONE time and ask someone to repeat my directions. We use grades A, B, C, D in all subjects and attitude grades of outstanding, satisfactory, unsatisfactory, needs improvement. Expect first marking period grades to be B’s, C’s and D’s

HOMEWORK Every child should read for 15 minutes every night and practice writng sentences every night. Any paper with an “HW” on it is homework and should be completed that night and returned the following day. Math HomeLinks go home almost every night. The Reading & Spelling Notebook goes home every night and MUST return the following day. MondayTuesdayWednesdayThursday Write each word 5 times Put high frequency words on flashcards Use words in sentences Practice spelling all words

GENERAL INFORMATION If your child is sick, keep them home. Start time is 9:05am Backpack belongs to your child not you. Sandals must have a back strap, no Flip-Flops. Tissues Dry erase markers

Birthday Parties No products can be served in the schools in which the first ingredient listed is sugar. Any products served in the schools must be labeled with the ingredients. If products are brought in from home without a label we cannot possibly assure the food is of proper legal nutritional value or peanut free. This includes Dunkin Donuts for class parties, etc. Suggestions: pretzels, chips, fruits, or just hand out a pencil or stickers. Remember to send in napkins, no drinks or goodie bags.

Thank you for your support! All questions or concerns should be ed to me at school. There are no silly questions!!!!!!! Please make sure your phone numbers and addresses are always up to date. Look on district website for all school information.
