Spearheading the graphene revolution Manchester scientists are leading groundbreaking research and development into super-material graphene, discovering applications that could revolutionise 21st century industry. The world’s only £50 million research and development hub for graphene opens in 2015 at the University Professors Sir Andre Geim and Sir Konstantin Novoselov received the 2010 Nobel Prize for Physics for being the first to isolate graphene

Bringing higher education to all We take our academic knowledge into the wider community via thousands of educational and cultural events, a strong media profile and work with schoolchildren across Greater Manchester. Professor Brian Cox presents BBC TV programmes, including Wonders of the Universe and Stargazing Live 400 ‘widening participation’ activities with local schools and colleges each year 1,800 conferences, public lectures and other events run each year

Investing in our future success We have undertaken the largest capital investment programme ever seen in UK higher education to benefit our university community. £650 million has already been invested into state-of-the-art buildings and major refurbishments – with more planned for the years ahead.
