 In this story the main characters are Madame Mathilde Loisel (beautiful, charming and much grace), but from a poor family, her husband Monsieur Loisel (official from the Ministry of Education) and her friend Mademe Forestiers, wealthy person whom she did not continuously frequented every visit austerity reminded him that she lived.

 The story begins as Madame Mathilde longs for have a life of luxury, like having a beautiful home, jewelry, and money, married to an employee of the Ministry of Education, which provides a modest life. With which she is not satisfied.  Her husband manages to get an invitation to an event selected, and you want to carry Mathilde, because he knows that she enjoys the company of high class people, but there is a problem, Mathilde does not have appropriate attire to what you provides 400 francs for her dress, but Mathilde still not satisfied and you need an accessory for your dress, and she has no jewelry, so he resorts to her friend Madame Forestiers who is rich and can pay a necklace, tell your problem and Madame Forestiers, willingly gives the collar you need

Coming down on a debt that would last ten years and that would bring true poverty for Mathilde, to the point that they have to move, they have to do all the housework, washing dishes, pots, and aging and fighting for every penny for survive, and her husband worked at night to pay the interest on the loan over the loan sharks. And so Mathilde dies after year, on a walk in the Champs Elysees distinguishes the distance to a beautiful woman, with a child, it was.
