HE WAS BORN ON THE 5 TH OF AUGUST 1815 AT WHIPSNADE, BEDFORDSHINE, ENGLAND HE DIED ON THE 30 TH NOVEMBER

He is famous for being the first person to cross inland Australia from Adelaide to Western Australia by foot.

HE CAME TO AUSTRALIA WHEN HE WAS 17 FOR HEALTH REASONS. THE WEATHER WAS BETTER IN AUSTRALIA.

HE ARRIVED IN SYDNEY ON MARCH THE 20 th THERE WERE NO JOBS FOR HIM SO HE BOUGHT SHEEP/CATTLE AND HORSES AND MADE A FEW TRIPS TO ADELAIDE.

HE FOUND THERE WAS AN EXPEDITION ON FOOT GOING FROM ADELAIDE TO WESTERN AUSTRALIA. HE WAS MADE THE LEADER OF THE EXPEDITION. HE STARTED THE JOURNEY WITH 9 FRIENDS AND HORSES AND SHEEP.

5 AUGUST 1815 BORN IN ENGLAND 20 MARCH 1833 ARRIVED IN SYDNEY BY BOAT BOUGHT GRAZING LAND AND SHEEP AND CATTLE IN NEW SOUTH WALES AND THEN SOUTH AUSTRALIA. OVERLANDED ANIMALS TO BOTH FARMS AND SOLD THE ANIMALS FOR A GOOD PROFIT TOOK OFF ON MAJOR EXPEDITION FROM ADELAIDE TO WESTERN AUSTRALIA TO FIND NEW GRAZING LAND IN THE MIDDLE OF AUSTRALIA. EYRE WAS THE LEADER OF THE EXPEDITION. JULY 1841 ARRIVED IN ALBANY, WESTERN AUSTRALIA EXPEDITION WAS A SUCCESS HE TRAVELLED 1400 KILOMETRES 1846 AWARDED A GOLD MEDAL BY THE ROYAL GEGRAPHICAL SOCIETY FOR HIS COURAGE AS AN EXPLORER MARRIED ADELAIDE FANNY AND HAD FOUR SONS AND A DAUGHTER 30 NOVEMBER 1901 DIED IN ENGLAND AT THE AGE OF 86

Edward John Eyre’s received a prize for being the first person to cross inland Australia from Adelaide to Western Australia. His award was a gold medal for the organisation of the trip to Western Australia.

DURING THE TRAVEL TO WESTERN AUSTRALIA HE LOST MANY PEOPLE FROM THE GROUP.
