We reserve all rights of disposal such as copying and passing on to third parties.  First services started with voice announcement interrupting a normal radio programme  Enhancements included a service availability, announcement and area code signalling  ARI  State of the art is a high efficient digital coding  RDS-TMC filtering and personalisation at the user text-to-speech further processing, e.g. in navigation systems  Next generation will make use of the emerging digital broadcast development from table based indices to free referencing Demonstration of TMC and Dynamic Navigation Evolution of traffic information services

We reserve all rights of disposal such as copying and passing on to third parties. Intermediate conclusion  In a short-term it possible to provide traffic information for all motorways, federal roads and some big cities by usage of the BASt LCL 4.0 or updates  In a long-term the TMC Location Referencing must be taken off by a table-independent referencing method  AGORA  TPEG-RTM or other TPEG services can be the carrier for this Demonstration of TMC and Dynamic Navigation

8 CM-DI/EDP3 Pfeiffer | 11. Mai 2005 | © Blaupunkt GmbH reserves all rights even in the event of industrial property rights. We reserve all rights of disposal such as copying and passing on to third parties. Current development  Liaison between TMC and TPEG is established  Defining a TMC like service in TPEG by RTIG (Road Traffic Information Group)  Pushed by project Mobile.Info  Currently two proposals exist: Modification of the RTM service Definition of a new service: TPEG-Automotive Demonstration of TMC and Dynamic Navigation

9 CM-DI/EDP3 Pfeiffer | 11. Mai 2005 | © Blaupunkt GmbH reserves all rights even in the event of industrial property rights. We reserve all rights of disposal such as copying and passing on to third parties. Appraisal Adaptation of the RTM service + RTM is already defined + part of the ISO proposal - Different event catalogue - no statistical test for the TPEP location referencing available - location referencing is not sufficient for navigation systems  TPEG loc has to be replaced by AGORA  TMC event catalogue has to be introduced new service: TPEG-Automotive + Location referencing for navigation systems and non-map-based devices + Location referencing by TMC location and AGORA + enables the migration from TMC to AGORA + Event catalogue inherits TMC invents - definition is not finished Demonstration of TMC and Dynamic Navigation

10 CM-DI/EDP3 Pfeiffer | 11. Mai 2005 | © Blaupunkt GmbH reserves all rights even in the event of industrial property rights. We reserve all rights of disposal such as copying and passing on to third parties. On-the-fly Location Referencing: AGORA  AGORA-C leads to an average message size of 50 byte per location  usable for navigation systems and non-map-based devices  enables the enhancement of road network  possible business model: free encoding – pay for decoding Demonstration of TMC and Dynamic Navigation

12 CM-DI/EDP3 Pfeiffer | 11. Mai 2005 | © Blaupunkt GmbH reserves all rights even in the event of industrial property rights. We reserve all rights of disposal such as copying and passing on to third parties. Why one co-ordinate is not sufficient ?  Co-ordinates alone are often insufficient for adequate and precise localisation e.g. natural barriers are not considered  Developments of the street network cannot be detected  AGORA uses co-ordinates plus additional attribute and connectivity information from digital maps in a standardized way to allow a robust detection of the desired location. Demonstration of TMC and Dynamic Navigation

We reserve all rights of disposal such as copying and passing on to third parties. Why street names are a very week attribute ?  changes in reality over time  different spelling from one release to another of the same map vendor  different spelling between map vendors  typos  in some countries not all street are addressed by a name: e.g. China Demonstration of TMC and Dynamic Navigation

15 CM-DI/EDP3 Pfeiffer | 11. Mai 2005 | © Blaupunkt GmbH reserves all rights even in the event of industrial property rights. We reserve all rights of disposal such as copying and passing on to third parties. Typical urban Location coded with AGORA Location Reference example: Road work in Hanover  3 Points  12 Attributes  55 Bytes message size Demonstration of TMC and Dynamic Navigation
