PART 1 In pairs, discuss the following questions: a)What is ECOLOGY? b)What ECOLOGICAL ORGANIZATIONS do you know? a) ECOLOGY – a science which is concerned with the environment b) Some international ECOLOGICAL ORGANIZATIONS – Greenpeace, World Wildlife Federation, Children of the Earth

PART 2 Use the following pictures to name some of the problems of the mankind: a)population growth b) criminality c) using drugs

d) Illegal hunting e) a lot of rubbish f) air pollution g)water pollution h) soil pollution

PART 4 Energy production problems Types of power plants and problems they can cause – guess the missing word: ……….– they burn coal – pollute the air with flyash, cause smog ……….– they can destroy the landscape and the river lifesystem ……….– they don’t pollute the air, but their waste is very dangerous Some more ecological power plants are – ………………….

PART 5 What can we do to protect the environment – discuss the question in groups, the pictures might help you:

What can we do to protect the environment? save electricity- buy lights, refridgerators, washing machines..that save energy(nature- friendly), turn off unused electrical appliances save petrol/gas – use public transportation, walk, ride a bike, do big shopping save oil – recycle plastic save water sort our domestic waste not to smoke and throw rubbish in the nature keep our towns and country clean
