Tolmers 2016 Year 5 parents meeting Information and Q&A session

Tolmers Scout Camp  Situated a mile from Cuffley train station  100 acres of land made up of 70 acres of grassland and 30 acres of woodland  Camping and activity areas  Purpose built facilities, e.g. cooking and toilet areas  The children thoroughly enjoyed their trip last year and it complimented the year 6 residential!

Itinerary  Train to Cuffley and then short walk to the camp  Equipment drop and tent setup  Free time and meal preparation  Meal, campfire and evening activity  Bed!  Breakfast, pack and final activity  Travel back

Activities  Coconut Tree  Archery  Rope-a-phobia  Gladiator Duel  Abseiling

Health and Safety  Qualified Instructors  Minimum of 1 teacher per group in addition to support staff  Adult located at base camp  Risk assessments for travel and activities  Adults and children fully briefed  Tents in a rainbow shape around a teacher

Welfare and First Aid You should have already notified us of any medical/sleeping/any other issues that we should know about!  Medication must have been brought in and checked in with welfare leader by Friday 20 th May.  1 Tent will be left empty specifically for first aid and welfare.

Tents!  Children asked to pick 3 children they would like to be with in a tent - guarantee of 1 of those friends  Tents between 2 and 4 children

Food You should have already notified us of any dietary requirements  Children need to bring a packed lunch in a throw away bag for the Wednesday lunch  Meals provided: Wednesday dinner, Thursday breakfast and Thursday lunch  Children may bring some snacks and marshmallows for the campfire  Water is always available

Packing Guide  Allow the children to pack themselves as they will have to pack at camp  Pack with variable weather in mind  See available kit list

Expectations  Exactly the same as what is expected in school.  Listen to all adults.  Adhere to the set boundaries given for free time  Lights out means sleep!  Enjoy the trip and try everything
