Moisture in the breathe Before you start the experiment: be sure to rinse the clean test tube with approximately 2 mL of acetic acid.

Procedure (Supercooling) Start analysis with the thermistor outside the test tube. Start at room temperature Put thermistor in test tube, then lower the test tube it to the ice bath Make sure to not move the thermistor When temperature reading is below 10 o c Tap the thermistor tip on the bottom of the test tube As Supercooling effect ends (liquid to solid) Leave the thermistor in (min. 15 seconds) until you get a good line on the graph. Stop experiment and carefully remove the test tube out of the ice bath Do not remove thermistor while the acidic is solid

Procedure (Microlab) Take test tube out Warm up the test tube with hand Remove thermistor after acetic acid is liquid again Failure to do so will result in damage to equipment Graph –click on select domain With the mouse select the part of the curve that is the flat (after the supercooling).
