Albright College Study Abroad

Students in the course Japanese Religion, Culture and Business visit Daibatsu (the Great Buddha) in Kamakura Japan. This semester-long course examined the roots of business and cultural practices and the interaction between business and government in Japan. It included a two-week tour of Japan with visits to cultural and business sites.

Students visit Udayan Care Foster Home for girls in New Delhi, India. Gender was one of the themes of this course, which explored class issues, culture and economics in India. The semester-long course included a two-week visit to New Delhi, Agra, Jaipar and Varanasi, India.

Students and their Albright faculty on the two-week study tour of India participate in the national holiday of Holi. The tour, a part of their semester-long course exploring the religious and cultural underpinnings of gender, class and economics, included visits to New Delhi, Jaipur and Varanasi. The rapid rise and influence of India in the global economy requires students to understand this, and other important, Asian nations.

Albright business students Page Atkinson and Becky Robinson visit a historic fort in Agra, India. Significant historic and cultural sites were a part of the two-week course trip accompanying their semester-long look at the cultural and religious roots of today’s India.

Management major Victoria Sweeney ’15 at a scenic overlook of Reutlingen, Germany, her home for the fall semester of Victoria took business classes while in Germany and was able to tour numerous renowned companies, including Mercedes, Daimler and BMW.

Students in the course Japanese Religion, Culture and Business visit the Miyajima Shrine in Hiroshima, Japan. The visit to Hiroshima was a part of the two-week study tour accompanying their semester- long class. The day in Hiroshima was extremely moving, as students explored both the Japanese and American reactions to the world-altering bombing of the city in the waning days of World War II. Students also sampled cultural life with the local favorite dish, okonomiyaki.

Learning about the culture and history of India involves more than temple and business visits. Here students Kush Singh and Page Atkinson participate in a family’s celebration of the holiday of Holi in New Delhi. This festival of colorful dyes, song and dance celebrates friendship and family.
