Rookie-of-the-Year  This award goes to a first year male or female athlete  Eligible Candidates: 8 (4 freshman, 3 Sophomores, 1 Senior)  This year’s winner is a male athlete who ran cross country while in middle school.  Winner was faced with a difficult decision this fall… either go out for soccer or run cross country. I think he made an excellent choice!  Winner was relatively injury free all year long, never missed a meet, and showed steady improvement throughout the season  PR is a very solid 21:11 – which was achieved at Conference  AND THE WINNER IS…

Most Improved Runner  This award goes to a very deserving returning male or female athlete  There were a number of outstanding candidates to consider  Improved race times is an obvious key factor  Improved training/work ethic is also a must  Winner must exhibit a positive attitude  Winner must show enthusiasm for this physically and mentally challenging sport  Let’s take a closer look at this year’s winner…

 A senior -- two year cross country athlete  2014 average meet time was 23:28  2015 average meet time was 22:46  This represents an outstanding average drop in race time from last fall – A full 42 seconds!!!  Winner never missed a race while showing great consistency and steady improvement as a runner.  Winner ran two meets in the 23s, nine meets in the 22s, and just missed the 21s at Kewaskum.  Personal best time is a 22:02.9  This individual has been a vital part of two state teams  Winner achieved All-Conference status this fall… narrowly missing All-County status.  This year’s Most Improved Runner is…

Male Runner-of-the-year  Award Goes to the most valuable male runner  This year’s winner is a two year varsity cross country athlete (Average race times: 21:12, 20:41)  Winner has a great attitude, is hard working, and logged a ton of miles in the off-season.  Winner attended a running camp this past summer  Winner is clearly dedicated to this sport and to improving not only himself but his teammates  Winner is extremely supportive of his teammates, encourages them at practice to be their best, and has a great sense of humor  He’s really good at running, too! PR is a solid 19:32!  This year’s Male Runner-of-the-Year is…..

Female Runner-of-the-year  This award goes to the most valuable female runner  This year’s winner is a junior cross country athlete who earned Rookie-of-the-Year last fall  After her freshman year cross country experience -- overcoming obstacles is really nothing new to her  Winner finished as the top runner on her team a total of 11 meets this season  Winner earned All-County and All-Conference status  Winner ran a personal best 5K at the Conference Meet (20:40) and a personal best 4K at Kiel – (16:52.5)  This year’s Female Runner-of-the-Year is…

Sectional Champions

State-of-the-Team Address  Three seniors will be greatly missed!  Low participation numbers… In order for us to be as good or better next fall, incoming athletes must quickly transition into varsity spots and perform at a very high level.  Speaking of incoming athletes… WE NEED SOME!  Returning athletes must train in the off-season and grow as leaders on this team.  Overall, our summer mileage needs to go way UP! There is no secret… the good teams run a lot to improve.

 As your coach, I need to do a better job encouraging you…motivating you... keeping you all united as a team. We can all improve, myself included!  Athletes… you need to become a much closer team. No separate warm-up and cool down runs. We need to have a mindset of training together and challenging each other to become better runners and better teammates.  A return trip to state CAN be accomplished, but a lot of this will be up to you! Are each of you up to the challenge?  Most of all… continue to have FUN!!!

Thanks for another great season!

AND NOW FOR THE VIDEO…
