Helps to provide services to keep communities organized - PUBLIC WORKS Clean water Roads and streets safe Street lights Street signs Trash collection recycling

Helps to provide services to help citizens improve their education. EDUCATION Public schools and colleges Public libraries Scientific research

Helps to provide services to keep people healthy.. HEALTH restaurants clean grocery clean shots to children Discovery of new medicines Food stamps

TAXES – money collected by the government to pay for things that citizens need 3 kinds of Taxes Local Tax State Tax Federal Tax

Constitution – is our country’s plan of government. It is the supreme law of the land. United States is a Democracy which means that all people have an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives. The People of the United States have power in the government. (Play – Constitution Rap)

The Constitution tells how the government should be organized, and describes the jobs of each part of the government. It also explains the rights of the American people. It is divided into 3 parts. 1) The Preamble - tells how our government should be organzied 2) The Articles - describes the jobs of each part of the government 3) The Amendments - explains the rights of citizens. The Bill of Rights – First 10 Amendments that explains the citizens rights The United States is a federal republic and a constitutional representative democracy.

The federal government is composed of three distinct branches: legislative, executive and judicial. These branches work together to make the country run smoothly and fairly.
