Volumize3d Volumize3d Training Lesson 6 - Planner

Volumize3d Plan A place to draw 2D Some shapes are very difficult to create using pure CSG in 3D Easy to draw in 2D and volumize to 3D

Volumize3d Plan Is a top level node in a module Contains layers Ribbon Right Click

Volumize3d 2D Primitives Line BezierQ BezierC Arc Rectangle Circle

Volumize3d Layers Contain primitives Have an id (so we can USE them) Visibility can be toggled

Volumize3d Primitives Generally lines and curves Have control points Arrange to form a closed path (one per layer)

Volumize3d Background Image Image primitive displays an image file Isn’t part of build process Allows tracing

Volumize3d Straight Lines Stretch line out Edit points by mouse or text

Volumize3d Curves BezierQ BezierCArc P1 sets the start angle and radius P2 sets the end angle only P1 P2 C1 C2 C1

Volumize3d Circle, Rectangle Aren’t lines but are convenient ready to go closed paths Useful for creating torus and toroid

Volumize3d Link Join Closes gaps

Volumize3d Excercises 1 Create a project called lesson6 and a module called module1 Create a plan called plan1 Draw the following shape Linkjoin it to make sure it’s closed BezierQ BezierC Arc 30mm

Volumize3d Excercises 2 Download an image of a light bulb and save it under lesson2’s directory. Create a plan plan_2 Create a layer and add the image so it is centered over the Y axis and sitting above the X axis Create a layer and use straight lines to approximate a polygon over the light bulb’s metal base (exclude the thread detail). Only draw the right hand side half. Create a layer and use curves to approximate a polygon over the glass. Only draw the right hand side half. Use linkjoin to make sure both polygons are closed.
