Undergraduate Research “An inquiry or investigation conducted by an undergraduate student that makes an original intellectual or creative contribution to the discipline.” Center for Undergraduate Research Excellence Facilitates Research and Scholarship Pairs Undergraduates with Faculty Hands-on Experience Intellectual Relationship What is the CURE Summer Program

Summer 2016 Parameters May 16 - August 5, 2016 Application by Faculty-Student Teams –can include more than one faculty member CURE support for up to two (2) students per faculty member - all students can participate Signed Commitment Contract Bi-Monthly Workshops Mentor and Student Evaluations –mid-term and end of program

Faculty Participation Research Profiles on Website Application (due March 22) –Work with students during application process Mentor training and on-boarding Must submit one proposal for funding based on CURE research (by May 2017) Minimal quarterly reporting required Pre- and post- assessment

Student Role Contact faculty members indicating interest Application - to include a recommendation from potential faculty mentor – work with faculty On-boarding with pre-training (library, safety and ethical conduct of research) Attendance at workshops Weekly elevator speeches Full participation required Final presentation and Academic Showcase

Eligibility/Requirements Students Enrolled B-CU for Fall 2016 Good academic standing Faculty Tenured or Tenure-track faculty Approval of Dean Must submit a proposal for extramural funding
