E-Verify is a free, easy-to-use, web-based system operated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). What is E-Verify?

It allows participating employers to electronically verify the employment eligibility of their employees. What is E-Verify?

Over 98 percent of all employees are IMMEDIATELY found authorized to work. What is E-Verify?

RIDE…

RIDE stands for Records and Information from DMVs for E-Verify. What is RIDE?

It’s a mouthful, we know What is RIDE?

RIDE allows employers to check drivers’ licenses and state IDs against jurisdiction records. What is RIDE?

Over 80 percent of employees use a driver’s license or state ID to establish identity on the Form I-9. What is RIDE?

This two-part verification gives employers a greater assurance that their new employees are who they say they are. What is RIDE?

It deters and detects fraud, as well as reduces the use of fraudulent documents. What is RIDE?

Data Entry Initial Verification NO Photo Matching Case Result The employer enters the employee’s Form I-9 information, including driver’s license (DL) data VIS performs automated check against SSA, DHS, and MVA records Photo matching is not currently part of the RIDE enhancement, but verification of photos may be explored for future implementations Employer receives a case result of Employment Authorized or tentative nonconfirmation (TNC)

At no point do we ever show the employer any information from the jurisdiction record. What is RIDE?

The employer will only receive an “Employment Authorized” response or a prompt to have the employee contact DHS if there’s a mismatch. What is RIDE?

Current Status…

On 12 JUNE 2012, RIDE celebrated its first birthday Current Status

Since then, we’ve run over 250,000 queries against MDPS records. And encountered zero problems Current Status

Calling it a ‘wild success’ would be an understatement. We’re pretty proud of RIDE Current Status

So why should your jurisdiction join?

There are a lot of good reasons to partner with DHS and the RIDE program. And encountered zero problems Why join RIDE?

But here are three… Why join RIDE?

It reinforces your agency’s commitment to fighting document fraud

E-Verify saw 13.3 million drivers’ licenses and state IDs used by employees last year

Over 1.1 million of those came from Region I Jurisdictions

If your state has passed a mandatory E-Verify law, RIDE reinforces your state’s commitment to a legal and eligible workforce.

What is E-Verify? Does your jurisdiction require E-Verify?

Joining RIDE doesn’t require you to hire any new staff, buy any new technology, or drain already overworked resources.

This is a low to NO cost initiative

HOWEVER…

DHS/USCIS is committed to covering any resources or staff time that’s needed to launch and maintain the RIDE partnership.
