Who will Attend? 3 rd, 5 th and 8 th Grade We have used the results from the Reading- Curriculum Based Measurement (R-CBM) to determine which students to invite. Students scoring at the “Deficient” range were invited to the Summer Opportunity Program. Schools are also looking at the Milestones results in reading. High School Students who are in need of Credit Recovery Students who are in need for Credit Repair Students who want to take a non-Milestones course for acceleration- students have to meet certain criteria.

What is the Goal of the Program? 3 rd, 5 th and 8 th Grade The goal of the 3 rd, 5 th and 8 th Grade Summer Opportunity Program is to provide for both reinforcement of learned skills and remedial assistance for students who need extra academic support in the area of reading. High School Credit Recovery - an opportunity for a student to retake a course in which he/she previously was not academically successful in earning credit towards graduation. Credit Repair - Students who receive an average of in any academic subject will be allowed to repair the credit. Acceleration – To motivate students who want to get ahead in high school.

What is the Timeframe of the Program? 3 rd, 5 th, and 8 th Grade June 6 th – June 30 th – 16 days Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Reading sessions only High School June 13 th – July 14 th - 19 days Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 2: 00 p.m. All academic content sessions

Delivery of Instruction 3 rd, 5 th, and 8 th Grade Reading instruction for 3 rd,5 th and 8 th grade students READ 180 model used for reading Participation in the Summer Reading Program High School Blended learning model using E2020/Edgenuity GEAR Up will provide a free Credit Repair program. Reinforcement activities for home which can include SAT preparation on Khan Academy.

Summer Opportunity Preparation Staff members have been identified. 83 staff members are being trained on the READ 180 model. Lesson plans have been developed. Teacher resources have been provided. Technology needs have been addressed. Schools are identifying and registering students.
