Bedbug Basics  Generally feed between am  Take about 3 minutes to feed  Retreat back into dark crevices such as headboards, mattresses, clothes & suitcases after feeding  Bedbugs can live for 1 year without eating  Bedbugs have built a resistance to DDT  Alternative hosts: rodents, bats, birds, cats, dogs, etc. Presented by

Bedbug Basics  Development:  Can go from egg to adult in 3 weeks in temperatures of 86 degrees  Can go from egg to adult in 3 months in temperatures of 65 degrees  Females can have 150 eggs in a life time  Cling to surfaces and need to be scraped with attachment if using a vacuum  Headboards predict where bedbugs will travel to next room Presented by

 An allergic reaction is itching welts, like hives  20% of humans will NOT experience an allergic reaction  In those not allergic, bites look similar to mosquito bites  Bites typically occur on body parts that have been in contact with the mattress  No known disease transmission  Mental anguish and insomnia can result for those exposed Presented by Bedbug Bites

 Tiny, rust colored stains that have a syrup like smell on mattress or box spring.  Black residue and spotting left on the mattress or box spring.  Bedbugs tend to make their way into the crevices of the mattress or behind the headboard.
