AASCB is an association of bodies which are legally responsible for the registration, certification, or licensing of counselors within their jurisdictions in the United States of America. The organization is dedicated to the concept that individuals who have demonstrated competence to render counseling services are entitled to be licensed, certified or registered as counselors by its member boards. The purposes of the Association include: To engage in and encourage research in matters related to the legal regulation of counseling.

What “loop-holes” exist in your state code that allows for unlicensed practice?  (1) non-profit organizations,  (2) government agencies,  (3) faith or church based practices, etc. What injuries have occurred (if any) related to unlicensed practice?  Regulation of Computer-assisted or other forms of distance related counseling?

 Infringements upon the practice or title protections of licensure? Boards typically have limited resources for gathering or analyzing data. How can AASCB act as a resource and encourager?
