LCGT Meeting Laser & Mirror 12 December, 2011

Laser Ordered fiber amplifiers made by Nufern will be shipped on 16 th December. After the amplifiers arrive at Tokyo, we will start the evaluation of their performance. A person of a company that may assemble the system will visit me on 15 th December in order to discuss the laser system for LCGT.

Mirror Polish of MC mirrors have been done. Hirose-san and Mio are visiting CSIRO to discuss the polish and coating of BS and arm mirrors of iLCGT. Hirose-san have inquired the possibility to fabricate mirrors for a PR cavity and an SE cavity. Ohashi-san, Hirose-san and Mio visited Canon in order to discuss the possibility to polish the mirrors. Canon is now much interested in joining this project. Small mirror samples (1-inch) have been coated by Showa and will be done by Tokai-Kogaku; I asked to make the coating of % reflectance.

Sapphire We have started the procedure for purchasing c- axis crystals of 22-cm diameter and 15-cm thickness. We have obtained sapphire samples from SIC; they have been sent to a Showa in order to polish and AR –coat; they will be delivered to us in the second week, coming January. Two persons will visit us for joining the absorption measurements that will be done just after the next f2f meeting. Small samples of sapphire (1-inchi) have been polished and are now being coated to have the reflectance of 99.99%.
