Lessons from MDGs (negative) −Reduced importance of many other internationally agreed goals −Left out many important issues: human rights, inequality, unemployment, peace and security… −Global targets reduced flexibility at national level −Targets were not always well defined or indicators well selected

Post-2015 Development Agenda Building on the MDGs –Those goals not yet achieved will need to stay in the list for additional efforts Improving the content of existing MDGs –Some, such as MDG7, could use a review to make their targets and indicators more suitable Identifying new goals –Emerging challenges, such as growing inequality, need global goals and targets
