The average fruit or vegetable on American tables traveled from such far away locales as Chile or Mexico rather than within your community or even the United States. This not only hurts our economy but ups our Green House Gas emissions that contribute to global warming. That's why it is so important to buy fruits and vegetables that are in season and grown as close to home as possible.
