Section A Several slides evaluating a completed retail development (e.g. Fforestfach, Morfa, Trostre, Mcarthur Glen, etc) Section B Several slides evaluating a proposed random retail development (in townhill, Gors Avenue).... This is how you set your PowerPoint out... 2

Information you need to evaluate in Section A & B are..... DISADVANTAGES Environmental issues, e.g. increased traffic, carbon footprint, recycling issues, food miles. Ethical issues, e.g. Fairtrade products, child labour, organic foods, healthy living, processed foods, products tested on animals. Community concerns, e.g. impact on town centres, impact on small retailers, increased traffic, new road developments, pressure on local infrastructures, transport systems and cost. Political issues, e.g. competition between the large supermarkets and campaigners against the site. 4

Information you need to evaluate in Section A & B are..... ADVANTAGES Economic benefits, e.g. providing employment, donations and sponsorship, supporting local charities, attracting new businesses, attracting new customers, attracting new people to live in the area. Social benefits, e.g. providing meeting places, cafés and restaurants in store, providing additional facilities and community spaces. Customer benefits, e.g. Easier disability access and benefits, free parking, cheap petrol. 5
