Aim: How can we improve our research skills? Do Now: Find one website about researching and write down the full link in your notes. Keep the website window open.

Researching Basics 101 (Copy in your notes)  Understand the topic you are researching. Think about four key phrases you can use to search information on the assigned topic.  There are more resources available to you then the Internet.  Use primary and secondary sources.  Do not use Wikipedia; it is NOT a reliable source of information.  Cite your information. Avoid plagiarism.

Gale Research  Log in to Gale Research using the link in the Other Things of Interest section of the webpage and the information on the dry erase board.  Using the search tool on the top of the page see what items come up for the following search terms: culture, society, identity, acceptance. List at least one result for each of these items in your notebook.  Think about what other search terms could you use for your final paper. Remember students that did not do any of the previous parts must still hand them in. If you placed work in the extra-credit folder because it was after the due date you must meet with me T Band to receive feedback.

Other Resources Browse through the following websites and paraphrase what you have learned in your notes.   

Reminders  While the marking period seems like it started yesterday it is in fact almost over please keep this in mind as you hopefully improve your work habits for this class.  Book collection and distribution during T Band.  Remember to pick up graded work everyday this week except Friday.  Journal Folder is due on 12/20  All grades for the third marking period will be on Skedula which you can access by using the link on my webpage.

Summary Question:  How will you use the information learned to help you complete your final paper and/or final presentation for this class? Answer in one paragraph in your notes.
