Washington's Birthday The third Monday of February, is celebrated to honor George Washington, the first President of the United States. This date is commonly called Presidents' Day and many groups honor the legacy of past presidents on this date.

Easter A must play Easter game for American kids is Easter egg-roll. A special dish for Easter springtime in the USA is baked ham, potatoes and vegetables. It was in the early 1700's, when for the first time, eggs were dyed. Painting the Easter eggs and then conducting Easter egg hunt games for the kids is what most American parents do on the Easter week.

Mother’s Day On Mother's Day morning some American children follow the tradition of serving their mothers breakfast in bed. Other children will give their mothers gifts which they have made themselves or bought in stores. Adults give their mothers red carnations, the official Mother's Day flower.

Memorial Day It originally honored the people killed in the American Civil War, but has become a day on which the dead of all wars, are remembered in special programs held in churches, and other public meeting places.

Father’s Day Father’s Day celebrations in USA takes place with lot of enthusiasm. The day is observed as a time for family reunion in families, as children who are staying away from families take time out to celebrate the day with their father. Indulging daddy with breakfast in bed and gifts like cards, flowers, chocolates is the traditional way of celebrating Father Day in USA.

Independence Day This holiday honors the nation's birthday – the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, It is a day of picnics and patriotic parades, a night of concerts and fireworks.

Labor Day This holiday honors the nation's working people, typically with parades. For most Americans it marks the end of the summer vacation season and the start of the school year.

Columbus Day The day commemorates October 12, 1492, when Italian navigator Christopher Columbus landed in the New World.

Halloween On Halloween, American children dress up in funny or scary costumes and go "trick or treating" by knocking on doors in their neighborhood. The neighbors are expected to respond by giving them small gifts of candy or money.

Veterans Day This holiday was established to honor Americans who had served in World War I, but it now honors veterans of all wars in which the U.S. has fought. Veterans' organizations hold parades.

Thanksgiving Day The holiday dates back to 1621, when Puritans, showed their gratitude to the Native Americans for their help by hosting a feast to give thanks. The Thanksgiving feast became a national tradition and almost always includes some of the foods served at the first feast: roast turkey, cranberry sauce, potatoes, and pumpkin pie.

Christmas Day Christmas is a Christian holiday marking the birth of the Christ Child. Decorating houses and yards with lights, putting up Christmas trees, giving gifts, and sending greeting cards have become traditions even for many non-Christian Americans.
