Go to and log in to your account. After you log in, the screen should look similar to the one below: Click on the following link to learn about the default “My Surveys” tab. After watching the video, proceed to the next slide.

The following link will describe how to start creating a survey: After watching the video, create a survey with this information. Click on the following link to learn about the “Edit Survey” tab, which will be displayed once the survey is created. After watching the video, proceed to the next slide. (Your name)

Click on the following link to learn the basics regarding different possible question types: We will first create a multiple choice question for our survey. Watch this video that describes the basics about Multiple Choice Questions. Now we can start creating our first question. In the Qualtrics window, click on “Create a New Question.”

See if you can create this question. It forces the survey-taker to answer the question before proceeding. It also features the option to enter text for the “Other” choice. See if you can figure out how to implement this feature. (If you can’t, that’s OK. The procedure is described on the next slide.)

Click on the blue dropdown arrow beside the choice and choose “Allow Text Entry” To force the survey-taker to answer the question, choose “Force Response” This icon signifies that this question requires a response. This button allows you to view the question as it would appear to the survey taker. This was used to generate the image in the previous slide. Multiple Choice Question Type

Now we will create a Likert Response question. In Qualtrics, we will use a Matrix Table question. Click on the following link to learn about this question type. Now try to create the question below. (Be sure to select the option to force a response)

Our last question will be a comment box that allows text entry. There is no specific video for this question type, so do your best to try to figure it out on your own. (Again, assistance is on the following slide if you need it.)

To conclude our survey, we will provide some general information and useful links to a few informative websites. To do this, we will use the Text/Graphic question type. (It is called a question type although it’s not actually a question.) Please learn about the Rich Text Editor by watching this video. Now try to recreate the Text field below. (Don’t worry about the specific website links)

You can change the font size and colors by clicking on the Rich Text Editor Tab.

Now would be a good time to preview the survey, although this may be done at any time. If you want assistance with another aspect of Qualtrics, you can check the “Help and Tutorials” section. Clicking this button will preview the entire survey in a new window.
