HOW DID IT ALL START ?  In elementary, I wasn’t a excellent reader. In fact I hated reading, it was all around my worst subject. The teachers made me read the little thin picture books that wore just pointless stories. By the I reached fifth grade, I was reading a level higher than my grade. I tried reading the chapter books but never succeeded in reading them thoroughly. It had to be a really good book to keep me reading, kind of like an adventure book. My mom would take us to the library hoping I would pick a book to read but usually I would just pickup the coloring sheets that were there. Books today to me are really interesting. Sometimes its about fun reading but other times it an escape from reality. In that moment your reading your book, your lost into a dream world like your actually in that book.

Hatchet by : Gary Paulsen I first read this book in fifth grade, it was one of the first chapter books I had ever read. It was more of a class read than a independent read. When reading it in the classroom I didn’t really pay attention, I was distracted by other students. So one day I took the book home to do some catching up, as I started reading Hatchet, I couldn’t get enough. There was a plethora of action in the book. On every page something new was happening. Hatchet had my feelings going everywhere. The story was about a boy who has survived a plane crash, where everyone has died but him. The boy was left alone to survive the wilderness by himself until rescue arrives. This book made a difference by keeping me into the story, it was the first book I finished.

The Great Gatsby By : F. Scott. Fitzgerald This book was one that I judged by the cover. I thought it would be the most boring book I have ever read. I read The Great Gatsby when I was in ninth grade. We started reading the book in class and as we did get into the book it became very interesting. The Great Gatsby was about a man who was in love with his neighbor across the water. This man would throw huge parties just so one day this young lady would come over and talk to him. In the book there is a great amount of personification. It made a difference to me because the book taught me that you shouldn’t always judge the book by its cover, sometimes the cover is boring but the inside is the most interesting.

Percy Jackson by : Rick Rioden This book was the book that made me want to read the whole series. I read this book in middle school and I was hooked. I didn’t really like any of the girly books like “The Sister Hood of the Traveling Pants. “ I liked the books that kept you going wanting to read the whole series. This book was about a boy who learns his powers and tries to save mom and camp half – blood. It definitely was a page flipper for me. I loved this book.
