Strategies & Knowledge for Independent Learning SKIL SKIL shows you how to learn independently regardless of the subject you are studying. SKIL To use the SKIL cards all you need to do is to decide what subject matter you want to study, which card you want to use and then follow the instructions on the card. SKIL SKIL cards can be found in the following places: SKIL At SKIL sessions hosted by your subject department. SKIL At Open SKIL sessions. On Moodle by following the ‘Independent Learning’ tab at the bottom of the home page. Given by your teacher. They can be used for: Individual learning Learning in groups Learning at home Learning in class Doing homework You can earn certificates by using the cards at SKIL sessions, for homework or in your lessons. There are three certificates to collect: Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3 Stage 1, 2 or 3 certificate card Name: _______________ Form: __________ Once complete return to: ______________________ SKIL To use the SKIL cards all you need to do is to decide what subject matter you want to study, which card you want to use and then follow the instructions on the card.

Evidence needed: To obtain the certificates then you must: Stage 1 - obtain a total of 6 signatures using at least three different SKIL cards Stage 2 – obtain a total of 12 signatures using at least five different SKIL cards Stage 3 – obtain a total of 20 signatures using at least seven different SKIL cards You can do this by using SKIL cards: During SKIL sessions To complete homework In class How to prove you have used the SKIL cards: If you attend a SKIL session ask the prefect or teacher that is present to sign your card. If you use them at home then ask your parents/carers to sign your card (please ask them to write what relationship they are to you). If you use them in class then ask your teacher to sign the card.
