1 ©2011 Quest Software, Inc. All rights reserved. Business Challenges Human error and hardware or software failures can too easily cause accidental deletion of Active Directory or Group Policy data. Malicious employees can intentionally erase directory data. Viruses can render the entire directory corrupt − These everyday disasters in Active Directory cause unplanned system downtime and hours, or days, of lost user productivity.

2 ©2011 Quest Software, Inc. All rights reserved. Technical Challenges Native recovery tools are manual, time-intensive, and often require that Active Directory be taken offline, adding costs with the resulting unplanned system downtime Failure to create regular backups of Active Directory can lead to decreased Active Directory and Group Policy reliability Windows Server 2003 Tombstone Reanimation capability does not provide complete recovery functionality Windows Server 2008 does not provide any improvements to granular, online restore of AD objects Windows Server 2008 R2 does not provide a user interface but requires scripting for the Active Directory Recycle Bin feature

Recover any type of object and even roll back corrupted attributes, ensuring recovery from any type of disaster? Increase Active Directory and Group Policy reliability by improving backup efficiency? More frequent backups mean more accurate data, while smaller backups reduces storage requirements Recover objects using a graphical interface without scripting Reduce administrative workload with centralized and unattended backup creation and easy-to-use recovery options? Lower costs and increase user productivity by eliminating unplanned system downtime?
