Animal Cells By: Breanna

What Organelles are in Animal Cells? There are 5 types of cell organelles in an animal cell. They are the: Mitochondria, Cell Membrane, Nucleus, Vacuole, and Cytoplasm.

Mitochondria This is a circular or a rod-shaped organelle found in the cytoplasm of the cell. This is called the “Power House” of the cell. They produce large amounts of energy. They are able to use glucose and oxygen to produce energy.

A thin membrane made up of lipids and protein. It surrounds the cytoplasm of the cell and controls the movement of the materials in and out of the cell. Cell Membrane

Nucleus The nucleus contains the cells genetic information. It control’s the growing and the reproduction of the cell. The nucleus is surrounded by something called a nuclear envelope. It is the “Brain” of the cell. This is the most important part of the cell.

Vacuole The vacuole acts like a storage bin for the cell. It stores the food, and water, or any other any nutrients the cell might need to survive. It can also store wastes to keep other parts of the cell from being contaminated.

Cytoplasm The cytoplasm is a jelly-like substance that protects all of the cell organelles. It is a clear color. It fills up the cell to take up space. When looked at through a microscope it is three-dimensional.
