GSC17-PLEN-31 Standards for Shared ICT GSC-17, Jeju / Korea 2 Highlight of Current Activities Continue Standard evolution in 3GPP –TD-SCDMA/TD-LTE-Advanced Rel-11 in 3GPP was finished in Dec. 2012, and Rel-12 target to be finished in Sep Continue Standard evolution in CCSA –TD-SCDMA industry standard phase 5 and further enhanced and optimized will under study in CCSA TC5 WG9. –TD-LTE Industry standard Phase 1 just finished in Mar, 2013.

GSC17-PLEN-31 Standards for Shared ICT GSC-17, Jeju / Korea 3 Highlight of Current Activities Mobile subscribers in China –Total number of mobile subscribers: 1.46 billion at the end of Q1, –Total 3G subscribers: 277 million at the end Q1, –TD-SCDMA subscribers: 114 million at the end Q1, TD-LTE Test in China –Expanded scale trial was started from Jun, 2012, target to 100 cities, 1 million terminal and 20,000 BS at the end of 2013.

GSC17-PLEN-31 Standards for Shared ICT GSC-17, Jeju / Korea IMT-2020 PG Kick-off On 19 Feb 2013, the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group was established in the kick-off meeting jointly held by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MST) of P R China. Scope of IMT-2020 PG (Preliminary) Market Requirement Potential Technologies Spectrum… Member from main vender, operator, university, research institute, etc. The objectives, structure and other details of the PG are to be determined. 4

GSC17-PLEN-31 Standards for Shared ICT GSC-17, Jeju / Korea 5 Strategic Direction CCSA will continue to support the evolution of IMT- Advanced technologies, especially for TD-LTE- Advanced evolution. CCSA will continue to contribute to develop the report on [IMT.2020.INPUT] and [IMT FUTURE TECHNOLOGY TRENDS] in ITU-R WP5D. CCSA will continue to contribute to the future IMT development, e.g. IMT-2020 research in china.

GSC17-PLEN-31 Standards for Shared ICT GSC-17, Jeju / Korea 6 Challenges TD-LTE Industry –TD-LTE Voice Solution CSFB as transition phase solution. VoLTE/SRVCC as long term target solution. –Multi mode multi band terminal –Interworking with TD-SCDMA, GSM, WiFi etc. TD-LTE Global Market –The world’s largest TD-LTE Network is expected to be established in 2013 in China. –Global TDD frequency band for TD-LTE.

GSC17-PLEN-31 Standards for Shared ICT GSC-17, Jeju / Korea 7 Next Steps / Actions Continue TD-LTE expanded scale trial in China, handling multiple system coexistence, Interworking and other networking issues before commercial network launched. CCSA will start TD-LTE-Advanced concept validation phase test in CCSA will continue to contribute to the future IMT technology development.
