Counties whose reserves of oil allow them to control oil prices and trade with greater equality with the ‘developed world’. Characterised by extreme variations in wealth and quality of life between very rich few and poor many. Includes countries such as: –Saudi Arabia –UAE –Libya –Venezuela

Former Communist states who are struggling to convert their economies into Capitalist or Market Economies Includes countries such as: –Russia –Ukraine –Belarus –Kazakhstan
