Text and Graphic Features

Text Features Titles- the name of the book or story Headings-the name of a section Bold or italic print- important words that are highlighted Glossary- a section of the book that lists vocabulary words and their definitions in alphabetical order; located at the end of the book. Table of contents-a lists of topics (chapters) of the book and the page numbers; found at the beginning of a book Index- a list of important places, people etc; found at the end of the book. Subtitles- more specific titles written underneath the main title Captions-explanations or descriptions of graphic features Sidebars- explanations of text located next to the text Text Features are parts of a text that draw your attention to important information. Text features are WORD clues. Examples include
