Thesis Being a woman – elected for Vice President nominee. Change in the Democratic Party. Democrats are the party for change –Children and women’s rights –Peace not war (i.e. end of nuclear threat) –For the working man –For the elderly The current administration does not support children, women, workers, elderly, or peace, and her and Mondale, with the Democratic Party, will change the country for the better.

In her speech to the Democratic National Convention in 1984, Geraldine Ferraro, the Vice Presidential nominee, paints her party as the party for change. Specifically, she asserts that her party is the party of choice for woman, children, workers, elderly, and anyone concerned about world peace.

Logos Detail – Women are paid 59 cents for every dollar that a man is paid. Detail – “by the year 2000 nearly all of the poor people in America will be women and children”

Thesis Audience –Women –Working class –Elderly –Children –Students –Parents(50,000 nuclear warheads) Purpose – She writes to persuade those listening that if they are against the status quo, which is opposed to the interests of women, children, workers, elderly, students, and parents, then the Democratic Party is the choice for change for them.

Thesis In her acceptance speech for the Vice Presidential nomination at the Democratic National Convention in 1984, Geraldine Ferraro juxtaposes her party against the Republican party. She portrays her party as the party for women, children, parents, workers, students, elderly, and any other individual concerned with the path the nation is upon. Through her speech, the ringing tintinnabulation of hope can be heard for those who will listen.
