You can have a hand in change
What happens when we Paint the Way for Women’s Rights? It gives women choices. When women are denied their human rights, we all suffer. Together we can Paint the Way for women’s rights. It’s in our hands.
What happens when we Paint the Way for Women’s Rights? Girls who are educated … stand up to abuse … are at less risk of contracting HIV-AIDS … stay in school … are not child brides
What happens when we Paint the Way for Women’s Rights? Educated women … marry later … bear fewer children … are healthier … their children are healthier … the next generation is stronger
What happens when we Paint the Way for Women’s Rights? Empowered women … understand their rights … stand up for their rights … have better employment opportunities … are less likely to live in poverty … educate their children
Crossroads International A global network of organizations and volunteers past and present committed to ONE WORLD.
What some Crossroads programs have achieved More than 1200 girls in Swaziland attend Girls’ Empowerment Clubs where they support one another while learning about their rights and where to turn if they are being abused.
In Ghana, more than 9000 women, men and children have been trained by legal literacy volunteers to identify their human rights and take a stand against abuse, challenge illegal customary practices such as widows being “given” to their brothers-in-law, and re-claim land they should have rightfully inherited.
Working with cooperatives and completing entrepreneurial programs in Western Africa has provided opportunities for women to gain the skills, confidence and independence necessary to develop their own businesses and support their families.
How can you help? Paint your nails in a show of solidarity with women worldwide. By Painting the Way for Women’s Rights we’re bringing a soft touch to a hard issue. We’re not making a fashion statement; we’re painting our nails to bring awareness to the challenges women face globally while supporting programs that impact lasting change in the lives of women and girls.
