¡Bienvenidos de nuevo a la clase de español! 7 th Grade Spanish con Señora Mignano

6 th Grade vs. 7 th Grade 6 th Grade Spanish serves as an introduction to what lies ahead in grades 7 and 8. In 7 th grade, you can expect:  Higher intensity (more expectations from me)  More challenging content  Less leniency  More reliance on yourself (“student as a facilitator of his/her own learning experience”)  Continued learning of new vocabulary, shift in emphasis on grammatical content

7 th Grade Spanish Topics of study this year include:  Preliminary review  Personal Identification (Personal I.D.)  Family & House  Shopping  School

Grading Reminder Just like your other subjects, I follow the Diocesan Rubric for grading all of your assignments I also use my own rubrics in conjunction with the Diocesan Rubric  “General Writing Rubric”  “General Speaking Rubric” Copies of all rubrics can be found on our class page (7 th Grade Spanish)

Grading (cont.) In 6 th grade, the highest grade you could earn was a “4”…  …can you earn a “5” in 7 th grade Spanish??? Maybe. …I’ll explain:  being that this is a two-part, Level 1 course (and 7 th grade is only part one), you should be aware that I don’t expect to see “5” quality work until maybe towards the end of the year

Extra Help 7 th grade extra help is on Wednesdays after school (2:30-3:30) You must have a note from home confirming that you will stay after school with me that day Meet in Canning Hall after buses leave Parent pick-up in front lobby of school

Expectations One constant from 6 th grade to 7 th grade that you can rely on is my one and only expectation of you… Try your best.

Reminder: Class Rules Follow routine Don’t rely on excuses/website Be open-minded  Patient  Respectful  Curious Always be ready to WORK

7th Grade Spanish GOALS My goals for you are: TTo work hard TTo ask questions TTo take your learning seriously TTo have fun and try your best What are your goals for yourself this year in Spanish class???
