6 th Grade vs. 7 th Grade 6 th Grade Spanish serves as an introduction to what lies ahead in grades 7 and 8. In 7 th grade, you can expect: Higher intensity (more expectations from me) More challenging content Less leniency More reliance on yourself (“student as a facilitator of his/her own learning experience”) Continued learning of new vocabulary, shift in emphasis on grammatical content

Grading Reminder Just like your other subjects, I follow the Diocesan Rubric for grading all of your assignments I also use my own rubrics in conjunction with the Diocesan Rubric “General Writing Rubric” “General Speaking Rubric” Copies of all rubrics can be found on our class page (7 th Grade Spanish)
Grading (cont.) In 6 th grade, the highest grade you could earn was a “4”… …can you earn a “5” in 7 th grade Spanish??? Maybe. …I’ll explain: being that this is a two-part, Level 1 course (and 7 th grade is only part one), you should be aware that I don’t expect to see “5” quality work until maybe towards the end of the year
Extra Help 7 th grade extra help is on Wednesdays after school (2:30-3:30) You must have a note from home confirming that you will stay after school with me that day Meet in Canning Hall after buses leave Parent pick-up in front lobby of school
Expectations One constant from 6 th grade to 7 th grade that you can rely on is my one and only expectation of you… Try your best.
