Elizabeth was born on 21 April in London, England. Princess Elizabeth was the first child in the family. Five weeks after her birth she was christened with the beautiful name of Elizabeth Alexandra Mary in the chapel at Buckingham Palace. She was named for her mother Queen Elizabeth, her grandmother Queen Mary and great-grandmother Queen Alexandra. Her only sibling, Margaret Rose, was born in 1930.

The princesses never went to school and were taught by home teachers. Elizabeth learned mathematics, grammar, geography and literature. It was a relaxed and happy childhood. The princesses spent a lot of time with their parents.

Their parents were Prince Albert of England (later King George VI.) and Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. They were married in 1923.

In 1939, when Elizabeth was 13, she met her third cousin Prince Philip of Greece, it was love at first sight.

The youngest child of the Queen was born on 10 March 1964 and named Edward Antony Richard Louis. Prince Edward married Miss Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999 and on his marriage he was created the Earl of Wessex and Viscount Severn. Their daughter born in 2003 is known as Lady Louise Windsor.
